Thursday, 3rd March, 2022

MBABANE:The Swaziland Action Group Against Abuse (SWAGAA) will on Friday organize a march to the Mbabane police station to protest against the harassment of women.

This comes after a woman was allegedly harassed by the police for wearing  a short jump suit at the Mall, the police claimed she was flashing her body and inviting rapists.

Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the eSwatini Police Spokesperson had not responded to our questions at the time of compiling this report.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Sakhile Dlamini, the Communications and Campaigns Officer at SWAAGA said as women it was well within their rights to dress however they wanted .

We discovered that there were so many women who have been harassed in this manner by the police who are supposed to protect  them. It\'s high time we confront the police with the truth that wearing shorts is  not flashing. They should stop perpetuating the rape culture\", she said.
