MBABANE: Mandla Hlatswayo, the Chairman of Letfu Sonkhe Institute for Strategic Thinking and Development says eSwatini has a lot of money but people are made to be poor.

The sentiments of the Letfu Sonkhe Chairman come a few hours after one of the jets purchased by King Mswati through his Royal Eswatini National Airways Corporation(RENAC)landed at the King Mswati International Airport, the King is now expected to own four(4) jets.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday ahead of a Thursday discussion organised by Letfu Sonkhe that sought to unpack the country’s budget, Hlatswayo said the discussions would give a platform to Economists including Lobamba Lomdzala MP Marwick Khumalo to analyze the budget so that people could understand what it meant to their lives.

“There are clear indications that this country has a lot of money but people are forced to be poor. This budget will be unpacked so that the people can understand what it means to their lives”, said the Letfu Sonkhe Chairman.

Questions were sent to Thabile Mdluli, the Deputy Government Spokesperson, however, she had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

On Wednesday, one of Mswati’s multi-million jets landed in the country, the jets were purchased amid a health crisis where hospitals are struggling with drugs with University students  protesting in demand for allowances.

The country has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line.
