Judge Jacobus Annadale to preside over pro-democracy MPs appeal case.

Thursday, 10th March, 2022

MBABANE: Judge Jacobus Annadale will preside over the high profile bail appeal filed by incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.
This is contained in a directive allegedly signed by Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala, the leaked internal correspondence between the Judges was signed on Wednesday 09 March 2022.
“You are directed to hear the matter on Friday 25th March, 2022. The Honorable Justice JP Annandale will preside over the matter and further write the judgement. Any Judge is at liberty to write a dissenting judgement”, read the directive signed by Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala.
Questions were sent to Chief Justice Bheki Maphalala, however, he had not responded at the time  of compiling this report.
On another note, the MPs filed their bail appeal with the Supreme Court and the matter has been dragging after the CJ allegedly delayed it from being enrolled with the Supreme Court.
The MPs then filed an urgent application seeking an order directing the CJ and the Supreme Court Registrar to enroll the matter, the court ruled in their favour hence the matter will now be heard by the Supreme Court.
