MBABANE: Bheki Maziya, the soldier who was shot and killed at Lonhlupheko last month allegedly bragged that he killed civilians during the political unrest while inside a bar not knowing that the Solidarity Forces were around that area.
Speaking to this Swaziland News during an exclusive interview, the Solidarity Forces said while conducting an operation around Malindza at night, they received information that there was a drunk soldier at Lonhlupheko who was bragging that he killed civilians and they decided to rush there to shoot.
The Solidarity Forces were being interviewed by this publication regarding their expirience when conducting operations.
“We received information that there was soldier who was drunk, bragging that he killed civilians and we rushed there to shoot him. What made matters worse was that he was the son of a Chief”, said a member of the Solidarity Forces.
Reached for comments earlier after the shooting, KaLanga Acting Chief Rudolf Maziya confirmed that Bheki Maziya was shot and killed.
“I can confirm that Bheki Maziya, a soldier and son to Chief Mlimi was shot and killed”, said the Acting Chief.
On another operation, the Solidarity Forces said while at Luve, they targeted a Times vehicle and pretended to be asking for a lift, the driver allegedly gave them the lift and after reaching a secluded place, they produced guns and ordered him to take his belongings.
“We didn’t intend to harm but he decided to flee while we burnt the vehicle”, said a member of the Solidarity Forces.
The team of Solidarity Forces said they were ready to target anything or anyone seen to be against civilians.
On another note, the State controlled Times published an article after the burning of their vehicle saying they were being attacked for being impartial.
