MBABANE: Lusendvo Fakudze, the Ludzidzini Palace Governor has warned those who are plotting to poison buganu during the King’s ceremony this weekend not to dare put Swazis in danger.
This comes after King Mswati ignored calls for democratic reforms and went on to host Buganu ceremony instead of announcing a political dialogue.
The King made a commitment to the Southern African Development Community(SADC)Troika on Politics, Defense and Security that he will engage those calling for democracy through a dialogue after Incwala
However, he subsequently unleashed the police and soldiers to brutalize protestors again while declaring that Eswatini and everything within the country belonged to him.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, the Governor reminded those plotting to poison the traditional beer as part of discouraging people from attending the ceremony that King Mswati was appointed to the Throne by God.
“It’s difficult to warn them personally because the people who are pushing this are unknown but they want to put Swazis in danger. Bayaganga labo bantfu labenta loku, emakhosi akadalwanga ngabo, bayatihlupha nje. Sebangaze babulale lesive bona?”said the Governor.
It has been disclosed that as part of discouraging the hosting of the King’s Buganu ceremony funded with taxpayers money, a group of pro-democracy activists allegedly wrote “poison maganu” in road signs along the road leading to Buhleni Palace on Thursday night.
Speaking to this publication, a leader of the youth that was spreading the message said they were totally against the Buganu ceremony adding that it was a waste of public funds.
As part of the ceremony, the King summons women to deliver the traditional beer at his Palaces, the group of women is then expected to drink for a whole weekend.
“We have been spreading this message urging concerned Swazis to poison the Buganu as part of discouraging it because it’s a waste of public funds. By so doing, the whole ceremony would be disturbed because no one will know which container contains the poisoned traditional beer”, said the political activist who cannot be named for ethical reasons.
