BUHLENI: Women were forced to taste their traditional alcohol before entering the royal residence at Buhleni on Friday amid poisoning threats by pro-democracy activists.
This comes after this publication reported that there was a plot by pro-democracy activists to poison the traditional beer as part of discouraging the hosting of the ceremony funded by taxpayers money.
“Kukhokha butsi” according to Swazi Law and Custom is an act of tasting your own food before giving it to someone to ensure that it was not poisoned.
Lusendvo Fakudze, the Ludzidzini Palace Governor had warned those who were plotting to poison Buganu not to do so.
“It’s difficult to warn them personally because the people who are pushing this are unknown but they want to put Swazis in danger. Bayaganga labo bantfu labenta loku, emakhosi akadalwanga ngabo, bayatihlupha nje. Sebangaze babulale lesive bona?”said the Governor.
