I am writing this letter on behalf of my mother, who is 73years old this year.
My mother worked at Lugogo sun for over 20years but decided to take early retirement in 1999 due to a sickness which she contracted at her work place. Since then, she, together with other hotel employees who were either retrenched or retired from the three then Sun International hotels namely: Royal Swazi, Ezulwini Sun and Lugogo have been made to run from pillar to post for their provident fund money.
As a last resort, they decided to form a group and hire a lawyer to take their case to court.
The first lawyer died immediately after taking the case and the second one told them that he was advised to withdraw his services because their money involved Royalty.
He also told them that no lawyer would take their case.It was then that they decided to register a case with the Ludzidzini Council, which promised to investigate and get back to them.
In 2019, seeing that another year was passing and the Ludzidzini Council was still quiet, they gathered and went to Ludzidzini. I decided to attend on that day representing my mother. We were in that hall for less than 2 minutes, the counsel, upon hearing who we were, was not pleased with us and chased us out.The Chairman said,
"We told you last time that you should not come back here until we call you, we are still going to appoint someone to investigate".
The sad thing here is that most of the hotel staff has passed away and I believe that is exactly what Mswati's government is banking on.
My mother is so stressed by this and even resents the King because she believes he is the one who misappropriated her money which she worked very hard for.
A few years back, I have written to the Times of Swaziland but they never published my letter because they are controlled by Royalty.
Mr Editor, Mswati and his cronies are not only hated by the young generation but the old one as well.
