REVEALED: Chief Mlotjwa who insulted women evicted by Madonsa landlord amid fears his property might be burnt.

Sunday, 27th March, 2022

MANDONSA: Chief Mlotjwa who insulted women has been evicted by his landlord at Madonsa amid fears that his property might be burnt.

This disclosure comes after this publication exposed how Chief Mlotjwa of KaLiba under Hosea Inkhundla insulted women during a community meeting calling them tilambi(hungry fools) and bomakotanyana, merely for travelling to Mbabane to join protests in support of incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.

An independent investigation by this Swaziland News uncovered that Chief Mlotjwa, a member of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) was renting lilawu(a flat) at Madonsa in the outskirts of Manzini, at a Simelane homestead.

Lilawu according to Swazi Law and Custom is a flat or a house for teenage boys, however, married Swazi men also  enjoy the privilege of having lilawu for privacy purposes outside their marital home or house.

Speaking to this publication, Chief Mlotjwa denied that he was renting a flat at the Simelane homestead.

“I was not renting that flat, I’ve never rented a flat,” said the Chief.

But Simphiwe Simelane, a grandson to the landlord, confirmed that they evicted the Chief amid fears that people who were against his controversial statements might burn their property thinking it was the Chief’s home.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Sunday, Simelane said after reading the story online, they decided to evict him immediately to protect their property from being burnt.

“It’s true that we evicted him, we were protecting our property because no one knows what could have happened if he continued to stay here, we might lose our property,” he said.

It could not be ascertained whether other landlords allowed the Chief to rent a flat within their homes after the burning of his uMphakatsi.

Reached for comments on the latest developments, Bonsile Mamba, the Chairperson of the Swaziland Rural Women Assembly said the struggle was now at a level where anyone who might speak like Chief Mlotjwa might land in trouble.

“Le-struggle sesikulenye i-level nyalo, emaSwati ayakubuka nje ukhulume, utitjele kutsi wena ungi-Shifu kani nasebabodvwa bayati batokwentani(meaning: The struggle is now at another level, you can speak anyhow just because you are a Chief but Swazis will know when and how to fix you). I would advise Chief Mlotjwa to publicly apologize because life will be difficult for him in this country,” said the Chairperson of the Rural Women Assembly.

Last week, Chief Mlotjwa’s uMphakatsi was burnt in broad daylight allegedly, by angry residents after he insulted women during a community meeting.
