LOBAMBA: Senate President Lindiwe Dlamini-Gwebu has accused Senators of leaking State information to Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.
The Senate President was speaking inside Parliament after other Senators comforted her regarding an article where she was heavily criticized by the editor over her statements during the official opening of Parliament.
Dlamini told King Mswati that they would make sure that people who were not loyal to the King did not win elections, she was systematically mocking incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MP) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni.
After her sentiments, editor Dlamini published a hard-hitting article accusing the Senate President of abusing State power, thereafter some Senators approached her inside Parliament trying to comfort her.
“Inkinga lomfana letindzaba utitfola khona langekhatsi kutawumela kuthantazwe(meaning: The problem is, this boy gets the information from amongst us here, we need to pray,”said the Senate President.
A Senator who spoke to this publication said some of the Senators were angered by the Senate President sentiments.
“The article of the editor was based on a statement she made during the official opening of Parliament, now she accuses us of leaking information. What was leaked because she was speaking publicly,” said the Senator.
On or about 07 February 2022, the editor published an article, he accused the Senate President of using every opportunity to grab State power including manipulating the army intelligence unit headed by her husband Sisusa Dlamini and dating young boys in the media just for power. In the article, the editor warned the Senate President not to mock the incarcerated pro-democracy MPs just to stay relevant in politics.
