MBABANE: A home belonging to Panuel Malinga, the National Organiser of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) was on Friday morning petrol bombed by unknown people, however, the bomb failed to explode.
This comes a few hours after intelligence sources told this publication that King Mswati allegedly issued an order to bomb properties belonging to political activists in the midst of the political unrest.
In a public statement released by Wandile Dludlu, the PUDEMO Secretary General, the political organization said in the early morning hours on Friday, evil royal agents cowardly invaded the homestead of their National Organizer Panuel Malinga, in Mbekelweni.
“The intention was to carry their vile operation of throwing two explosives in the form of molotov cocktails directed one at Cde Malinga's vehicle valued to the tune of R700K, whilst the other his house where he was asleep with his entire family mainly kids. As PUDEMO we want to condemn this barbaric royal sponsored attack on our leaders and progressive patriotic Swazis. We have no doubt in our minds that this is meant to intimidate and harass our Cde Organizer and members in general,”said the PUDEMO Secretary General.
Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
The PUDEMO Secretary General said as a party they were not shocked about the latest developments adding that it was not the first time their members were bombed by royal agents.
“On countless other occasions King Mswati has set his agents on our leaders to intimidate them and instil fear. In June 2010 the house at Bhunya belonging to our late former SWAYOCO President Cde Alex Langwenya was bombed completely to the ground by the OSSU bomb disposal unit operatives. On 2 June 2012 Mswati\'s Soldiers under Mbangweni Barracks shot five live rounds of ammunition at the house of our departed President Mario Masuku at Makhosini leaving holes and rumbles on ground. In 2008 the then PUDEMO Chief Political Commissar was shot four times with live rounds at the door step of his house at Ezulwini. In all these attacks not one person has been arrested nor questioned or interrogated ‘tube style’ as Mswati\'s Police would normally do when digging for information from our comrades,” said PUDEMO Secretary General.
