TAXPAYERS MONEY WASTED: Delegation to take Deputy Prime Minister’s car for service in South Africa.

Thursday, 14th April, 2022

MBABANE: A delegation of senior Government officials will leave the country on the 18th April 2022 just to service one car for Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku.

This is not the first time the Deputy Prime Minister abused taxpayers' money, he recently went to Geneva for a meeting and pocketed Two Hundred Thousand Rands(R200,000.00) when he could have participated in the same meeting via Zoom to save taxpayers money.

This is contained in a memorandum signed by Makhosini Mndawe, the Principal Secretary in the Deputy Prime Minister’s Office, addressed to the Ministry of Public Works and Transport.

“Vehicle GSD 000 DP is the Deputy Prime Minister’s official vehicle, which is now due for service in South Africa on the 19th of April 2022. We kindly request your office to release Mr Mandla Kunene of CTA to accompany the delegation taking the vehicle to Republic of South Africa. The delegation will depart on the 18th April 2022 and be back by the 20th April 2022”, reads the memorandum in part.

A questionnaire was sent to Deputy Prime Minister Senator Themba Masuku, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, Bongnkosi ‘IB’ Dlamini, the Convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora wondered why the car was being taken for service by a delegation.

“We need to get more details where exactly the car would be serviced so that we can place our people there. You ask yourself why a car could be taken for service by a delegation?” said the Convenor of the United Eswatini Diaspora.
