OSHOEK: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People's United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) said the border blockade was meant to frustrate Mswati’s businesses.
PUDEMO and other political organizations participated in boarder blockades at Oshoek and Lavumisa among others, the protests were organized by the Economic Freedom Fighters(EFF).
Speaking at the Oshoek during the blockade when interviewed by Newsroom Afrika on Tuesday, the PUDEMO President said the border blockade was meant to deprive King Mswati an economic oxygen as he had captured almost all businesses in eSwatini.
”We are optimistic that this is in no way a futile exercise. We have closed all major ports of entry because one thing that the people and the world must know is that Mswati has captured most of the businesses in Swaziland. So by closing these ports of entry, we are depriving him of economic oxygen and we are making sure that we hit him where it matters the most, which is the pocket", said the PUDEMO President.
Thabile Mdluli, the Deputy Government Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On Tuesday, thousands of protestors participated in border blockades organised by the Economic Freedom Fighters South Africa (EFF SA) as a birthday present for King Mswati in order to force him to allow for democratic reforms.
