MBABANE: William Tsintsibala Dlamini, the National Commissioner of police has for the first time, announced a list of promotions that is not dominated by close members of the royal family or girlfriends of senior officers.
A close analysis of the list suggests that some of those promoted are constables who have served the organization for over twenty(20) years.
“A well-structured and control mechanism is key as the Royal Eswatini Police Service strive to improve its operational and service delivery processes. Although not far reaching in the light of the Circular 3/2018 freezing promotions and filling of vacant positions, it has pleased the National Commissioner of Police to announce advancement in the tactical and operational levels of the organization. The promotions which are from the rank of Constable up to the rank of Assistant Superintendent are with effect from 01st April 2022,” reads the memo released by the National Commissioner.
Efforts to reach the National Commissioner for a comment proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.
A police officer who was not among the list of those promoted said she was happy to see officers who joined the organization over twenty years ago being considered for promotions.
“I am not among those promoted but I am happy with the list, it is dominated by officers who served the organization for over twenty(20) years and we know that some of them are working and deserved the promotions. For the first time, we have a list of promoted officers who are not close members of the royal family, only one officer who works with Indlovukazi is among the list”, said the officer.
Some of the long-serving officers who were promoted have their force numbers starting with ‘33’ and they have been serving the organization as Constables.
