Two University students shot by Mswati’s police for protesting in demand for allowances.

KWALUSENI: Siyabonga Mahlalela, a University of eSwatini(UNESWA)student was among those shot by King Mswati’s police merely for protesting in demand for allowances.

The shooting of the students was confirmed by Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) on Thursday evening.

“It’s true that two students were shot but you can get more details from the Secretary General”, said the  Students Union President.

Reached for comments, Wakhile Lukhele, the SNUS Secretary General said the students were rushed to hospital.

Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

King Mswati’s allegedly unleashed the police to shoot University students at Kwaluseni on Thursday evening who were protesting in demand for allowances.

Earlier in the morning on Thursday, University students marched to the Ministry of Labour to demand the payment of allowances, government through the Ministry of Finance later released a statement confirming that the allowances were delayed due to financial

constraints.
