THUNZINI: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) visited parents of unionist Wander Mkhonza to offer a message of support after the petrol bombing of the latter’s home.
Mkhonza is the Secretary General of the largest textile trade union, the Amalgamated Trade Union of Swaziland(ATUSWA) that is leading textile workers in demand for a salary increment.
Speaking to Swaziland News on Thursday while at Thunzini, the PUDEMO President said he visited Mkhonza’s home to offer solidarity to their member who was attacked.
“We are here to sympathize with the Mkhonza family after receiving information that they were attacked by Tinkhundla agents”, said the PUDEMO President.
Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Mkhonza, a powerful and influential unionist within the textile industry is leading a strike action, demanding a salary increment for the workers who were turned into cheap labour by Government Gazettes.
