SITEKI: Three(3) Doctors have resigned at Good Shepherd Hospital amid financial challenges within the health institution while orderlies opted to take the hospital to court demanding their 2016 Salary Review.
As a result patients are now expected to travel to Mbabane for specialized treatment.
Reached for comments, Dr Simon Zwane, the Principal Secretary in the Ministry of Health said the health institution was independent and declined to comments regarding it’s administrative affairs.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, Mayibongwe Masangane, the Secretary General of Swaziland Democratic Nurses Union (SWADNU) said it was unfortunate that the hospital thought providing the required standards of health care was a luxury.
“They mean the people must travel to Mbabane to get a specialist? That is not fair . If we lose a specialist at Good Shepherd that means there will be a long queue of patients to see the remaining specialist. One might die while waiting in the queue or the condition could complicate,” said the Secretary General of the Nurses Union.
Reached for comments, Zwelakhe Moahloli, the Communications officer at the Good Shepherd Hospital said they would release a statement regarding the changes in the institution.
“Management will be issuing a statement regarding changes in the institution. This will be done soon,” he said.
