MBOMBELA: Four members of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) were called to order here at Mbombela after trying to disturb the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) Mlungisi Makhanya’s public address on Monday.
PUDEMO, one of eSwatini’s largest political parties was invited by the leadership of the EFF to address thousands of EFF supporters.
This was during the court appearance of three(3) suspects who allegedly killed Hillary Gardee, the suspects appeared at the Mbombela Magistrates Court charged with murder among other charges.
The alleged SWALIMO members who were wearing the organization’s regalia went closer to the stage and demanded to be interviewed by the SABC just like Makhanya who appeared in the TV station addressing the EFF members, however, they were ignored by the news team after being asked few questions to explain “who they are”.
After some few minutes, members of the news team were seen folding their equipment, ignoring the SWALIMO members.
Speaking to this Swaziland News after addressing the EFF members, the PUDEMO President said he ignored the SWALIMO members after noticing that the EFF was calling them to order.
“It was after they followed me when being interviewed by the SABC News team where I asked them what they wanted from me and they said they wanted to be interviewed as well. I told them that I am not responsible for that, the SABC make their own choices on who to interview,” said the PUDEMO President.
Reached for comments, Thantaza Silolo, the SWALIMO Spokesperson confirmed that some SWALIMO members were at Mbombela but clarified it was not them who tried to disturb the PUDEMO President while addressing the EFF members.
“The information we have suggests that while Makhanya was addressing the members, some of the EFF members tried to disturb him. Some of our members were there but it wasn’t them who tried to disturb Makhanya,” said the SWALIMO Spokesperson.
