MBABANE: The Embassy of the United States of America(USA) has come out to clarify that the article published by the new Financial Times suggesting that Editor Zweli Martin Dlamini received Five Hundred Thousand Rands (R500,000.00) funding from the National Democratic Institute(NDI) as false and misleading.
The Embassy published an online statement clarifying that the information alleging that the NDI and the office of the US Secretary of State was funding regime change programs in the country was false and misleading.
Swaziland News Editor Zweli Martin Dlamini confirmed receiving a questionnaire from the Financial Times Managing Editor Alec Lushaba but said he warned him not to publish the document as it was fake.
“I warned him not to publish the document as it was fake but he continued to do so because it seems scandalizing Zwemart is a fashion these days. When I warned him, he thought I was being defensive but now the US Embassy has come to clarify that indeed,the document is fake”, said the editor.
In the article, Managing editor Alec Lushaba alleged that the pro-democracy movement received One Hundred and Thirty Four Million Rands (R134million), something which the Swaziland News Editor described as false and misleading.
