The Republic of China on Taiwan has donated E10 million Emalangeni to help the Kingdom of Eswatini in its fight against the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Announcing the donation, Taiwan Ambassador to the Kingdom of Eswatini Jeremy Liang praised His Majesty King Mswati III for cancelling all gatherings including the Kings Birthday and diverting the mobilized resources to fight the spread of coronavirus. The Ambassador said the Republic of China on Taiwan remains a loyal friend of the Kingdom of Eswatini and will share expertise and experience to assist the country in fighting the virus.
“COVID-19 has become a global threat in all countries and people. Having recognized the magnitude and severity of the COVID-19, His Majesty King Mswati III made a very timely decision to cancel all the events including his own birthday celebration and mobilizing resources for the people and the country to fight COVID-19. In response to His Majesty’s noble course, the government of the Republic of China Taiwan decided to donate E10 million to help the Kingdom fight COVID-19”, said the Taiwan Ambassador.
Receiving the donation on behalf of government, Deputy Prime Minister Themba Masuku thanked the government of Taiwan for the contribution, pointing out that it came at a very crucial time when the country was in need of resources to fight the virus.
