Communist Party member, Phiwangesihle Matse amongst among protestors shot by the police during Thabani Nkomonye’s commemoration.

MANZINI: Phiwangesihle Matse, a member of the Communist Party of Swaziland (CPS) is among those who were shot by King Mswati's police on Friday during Thabani Nkomonye's Commemoration Day.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Pius Vilakati, the CPS Spokesperson confirmed the matter.

"The regime's police have once again showed their true colours.They have no regard to the right to peaceful protest in Swaziland. In a desperate bid to cling to power the regime continues to use violence against the people",he said.

Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded to our questions at the time of compiling this report.

On Friday Mswati's police opened fire on peaceful protestors from various political parties who were on their way to deliver a petition to the Manzini Regional Commissioner rejecting the findings of the Thabani Nkomonye Inquest.

Nkomonye is the University law student who was allegedly killed by the police.

The Swaziland National Union of Students (SNUS) in collaboration with the Mass Democratic Movement held an event in his commemoration at the SNAT centre in Manzini on Friday.
