MANZINI:Vusi Mamba,a member of eSwatini’s oldest political party, the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC)raised a clenched ‘Amandla’ fist in his hospital bed at the Raleigh Fitkin Memorial Hospital after being shot by Mswati’s police.
Mamba was among the University students and members of the various political parties who marched from the SNAT Centre, Manzini to the Regional Headquarters to deliver a petition rejecting the findings of Thabani Nkomonye’s Inquest.
Nkomonye was allegedly killed by the police, his body was dumped at Nhlambeni in the outskirts of Manzini.
Speaking to this Swaziland News, the NNLC member said it was the second time he got shot by the police, the first incident happened at the United States Embassy.
“I was shot on Friday during the protest to the Manzini Regional Headquarters, this was the second shooting incident, the first was at the United States Embassy,I was also shot there,” said the NNLC member.
Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
On another note, Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) confirmed that members of various political organizations were shot during the protest but urged the youth to continue being brave.
“As students and the youth of this country, we always try to finish what we have started.The youth must start developing a culture of defiance and do things by force if they want to achieve the democracy we are seeking,”said the Students President.
