MBABANE: The much-anticipated salary talk meeting between Public Sector Associations (PSA) and government did not yield positive results as 0% for the 2019-2020 financial year was tabled.
The Joint Negotiation Forum (JNF) was convened on Thursday at the Ministry of Public Service’s Conference room where the issue of Cost of Living Adjustment (CoLA) was deliberated. Updating teachers on the outcomes of the meeting, SNAT Secretary General Sikelela Dlamini issued a statement where revealed that the GNT tabled a 0% counter-offer for the year 2019/2020. Dlamini expressed that the PSAs rejected the offer which resulted to the drafting and signing of a deadlock.
“On CoLA 2019/2020, the GNT presented a 0% offer albeit a 7.23% (inclusive of 4.83% inflation and 2.4% economic growth) demand by the PSAs. The PSAs outrightly rejected the offer thus a deadlock was drafted and signed (instantly) as the parties agreed to disagree” read the statement.
