KAMBHOKE EVICTIONS:PUDEMO member, three others arrested for allegedly burning TLB.

METHULA: A member of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) and three(3) others from kaMethula Inkhundla were arrested on Thursday morning in connection with the burning of a Government TLB.

The TLB was burnt by community members on or around the 27th April 2022 in the midst of evictions and or demolition of homes within this community of KaMbhoke in the Southern parts of eSwatini.

The names of the suspects cannot be revealed for now, pending their appearance in court.

Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the eSwatini Police Spokesperson had not responded to our questions at the time of compiling this report. 

Speaking to this Swaziland News Wandile Dludlu, the Secretary General of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) confirmed the arrest of their member and further condemned the harassment of community activists by the police.

Dludlu described the harassment of community activists as a gross violations of human rights.

“We condemn the harassment of community activists by the police.This is a gross violation of human rights.Let them know that after all these brutalities 

,the struggle will grow even stronger,” he said.

The PUDEMO Secretary General said they instructed a lawyer to handle the matter of their arrested member.
