MATSAPHA:Sicelimphilo Mngomezulu, the lawyer representing incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube paid Eight Thousand Rands (R8,000.00) bail for Siphosethu Malinga,the Mhubhe High School student who was arrested by Mswati’s police.
Malinga,a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters of Swaziland (EFFSWA)was charged during last year’s political unrest after being found in possession of a slingshot.
Reached for comments, EFF Swaziland President Nombulelo Motsa confirmed that Malinga has been released from prison after paying the R8,000.00 bail, she thanked the lawyer for assisting the Mhubhe student.
“We are very grateful for the assistance we received from the lawyer who bailed out our member as the EFF. It shows that his heart is with the people,”said the EFF Swaziland President.
Members of the EFF were at the Matsapha Prison on Thursday to welcome Siphosethu Malinga who was then escorted by the EFFSWA back home.
Reached for comments,lawyer Sicelo Mngometulu said he was pleased to have assisted in the release of Siphosethu Malinga and wished him the best in his school work.
“I am please to have assisted in the release of Siphosethu and wish him all the best with his school work.It is regrettable that those who killed our people are roaming the streets freely whilst Mswati’s killer regime incarcerates school-going young people for their activism.We urge all emaSwati to keep the faith, democratic reforms are on the horizon.Do not relent on your demands for democracy in Swaziland,” said the lawyer.
