Ngudzeni Hikers to launch Community Based Tourism

NGUDZENI:A group of Hikers from Ngudzeni will on 2nd July 2022 launch a Community Based Tourism(CBT)project which will benefit local disadvantaged residents.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Saturday, Sebenzile Malinga, one of the founders of the project said they would be organising a mountain hiking event on the 2nd July as part of its launch.

“Community Based Tourism (CBT) is an alternative form of tourism development that aims to contribute to the holistic development of disadvantaged community members.The Ngudzeni community wants to use this forum to discuss health and social issues.The forum is also using natural attractions in one of the remote rural areas in the country,” she said.

Hikers from across the country will be climbing the Ingudze Mountain at a fee of Two Hundred Rands (R200.00).They are encouraged to use home-stay accommodation at Fifty Rands(R50.00) per person. 

The project will be implemented in partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, the United Nations Agencies (WHO,UNDP, UNESCO), the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) among others.It will benefit the elderly, orphans,  youth empowerment programmes among others.
