MBABANE: Bonginkosi ‘IB’ Dlamini, the suspended influential member of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO)says his focus is on liberating the people.
Responding to a questionnaire from this Swaziland News on Sunday, the former PUDEMO Secretary General confirmed receiving a suspension letter but clarified that the letter does not change anything in his political beliefs to liberate the people of eSwatini.
Dlamini, the founder of the United Eswatini Diaspora(UED) who has been critical of the current PUDEMO leadership told this publication that he enjoyed the support of PUDEMO members within the organization and vowed to continue holding those in the leadership of the political organization accountable.
“I received the letter of suspension.It does not have a charge.It does not mean anything to me and the work I do in the liberation struggle.It won't change my participation in PUDEMO whenever an opportunity arises.Nothing has changed before and after I received this foolish suspension letter. I put my people first. I will continue to preach peace and call upon any wayward leader to account for his actions,” said former PUDEMO Secretary General.
Reached for comments,Wandile Dludlu,the Secretary General of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) confirmed the suspension of Dlamini from the organization.
Dludlu said Dlamini stands accused of using online platforms to bring the name of PUDEMO into disrepute despite being warned to desist from doing so.
“The organization warned him before to desist from what he is doing and he wrote a letter apologizing. PUDEMO has structures where members are allowed to voice out their grievances,so IB avoided those structures because he knows he cannot mislead PUDEMO members. He then took advantage of the people who do not know PUDEMO and attacked the organization on allegations that lack facts or evidence. So it’s true that he has been suspended, he will appear before a disciplinary Committee very soon”, said the PUDEMO Secretary General.
On another note, Bongani ‘IB’ Dlamini said the suspension letter had no effect on him.
“I have got support from some of the Jozi branch where I belong. It's the same thing with some of the external region members.I also have lots of support from ordinary PUDEMO members inside the motherland.Lastly, my focus is working with the UED and other MDM leaders to build an effective and an all inclusive structure that will take the liberation to its logical conclusion,” he said.
