MBABANE: Mlungisi Makhanya, the President of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) and former Swaziland Youth Congress(SWAYOCO) Secretary General Maxwell Dlamini will appear at the Supreme Court this week for their terrorism case.

Makhanya, the then Secretary General of PUDEMO being eSwatini’s largest political party advocating for democratic reforms was charged with terrorism together with the late PUDEMO President Mario Masuku and former SWAYOCO Secretary General Maxwell Dlamini.

The three then successfully challenged provisions of the Suppression of Terrorism Act alleging that there were inconsistent with the Constitution, the State appealed the judgement.

Reached for comments, human rights lawyer Thulani Maseko who is representing Mlungisi Makhanya, Maxwell Dlamini and the late Mario Masuku confirmed that the matter would heard by the Supreme Court on the 9th June 2022.

“The matter will be heard by the Supreme Court on Thursday. The State is challenging Judge Mamba’s ruling in the terrorism case,” said the lawyer.

Members of PUDEMO, the largest political party in this tiny Kingdom have been persecuted for years by Mswati’s regime merely for demanding democratic reforms.
