NHLANGANO: Ngwane Teachers College Administrators had to postpone exams amid a water crisis.
Reached for comments, Bheki Gama,the Principal Secretary (PS) in the Ministry of Education and Training said they were working towards resolving the situation.
“We are working on resolving the situation,”said the PS.
It has been disclosed that the Eswatini Water Services Corporation(EWSC) has shutdown the College's water supply after the institution of higher learning failed to settle a bill.
According to a statement released by the College's Administration dated 11th June 2022, the institution of higher learning had to be closed after the EWSC cut off its water supply on Friday,10th June 2022.
“There will be shifting on the dates of writing examinations as the problem is bigger than we expected. We had thought it could be solved before the end of the day but it cannot.We acknowledge the fact that water is a basic need,hence life without it would be a pandemonium and health risk",reads the statement in part.
Philile Mavuso, the Deputy President of the Swaziland National Union of Students (SNUS) said the system of government has failed them as students.
“This system of government has failed us, ours now is to disorganise everything to organise ourselves.We have no hope in them if they can't even pay for basic needs like water for the students. As SNUS we will make sure we protect our education by all means possible, our future and better education is in democratic Swaziland,”said the SNUS Deputy President.
