PPA leader Sibongile Mazibuko threatened by Deputy Commissioner, police to deal with protestors.

MBABANE: Richard Sibangani Mngomezulu,the Deputy National Commissioner allegedly threatened to deal with all protestors who will disturb peace in the country.

This was during a meeting at the Police Headquarters on Wednesday where senior officers had summoned Sibongile Mazibuko, the Chairperson of the Political Parties Assembly(PPA) and President of the Ngwane National Liberatory Congress(NNLC).

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Thursday, Mazibuko confirmed the meeting with the police adding that Richard Mngomezulu threatened to deal with anyone who will protest this month of June and disturb peace and stability in the country.

“Mngomezulu stated categorically that as the police, they are ready and will deal with anyone who will protest and disturb peace and stability in the country,”said the PPA Chairperson when interviewed by Swaziland News editor Zweli Martin Dlamini.

Mazibuko said the police firstly asked her to assist them in making sure that there would be no protests in the country and that the events of June 2021 that sought to disturb peace were not repeated.

Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Citizens in eSwatini are tortured and killed merely for protesting in demand for democratic reforms, dozens have been killed since the unrest started in June 2021.

On or around 31st January 2022, Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) was abducted by over ten(10) police officers under the command of Deputy Richard Mngomezulu and Senior Superintendent Clement Sihlongonyane.

Maseko was subsequently charged with sedition after hours of torture at the hands of the police.
