MATSAPHA: Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, the Army Spokesperson says there was an attempt to bomb a helicopter belonging to the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF).
This comes after the Spokesperson of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF)confirmed to this Swaziland News on Sunday that one army helicopter used by Defense Principal Secretary(PS) Prince Sicalo was petrol bombed while the other one did not catch the fire.
“We can confirm that an army helicopter was successfully petrol bombed this morning(Sunday). Actually, we were targeting two helicopters but we managed to burn one,the other one did not catch the fire. We can also confirm that an operation was conducted in Manzini this weekend where police officers were shot,”said the Spokesperson who was speaking or commenting on behalf of the highest Command of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF).
But Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, when responding to our questionnaire on Monday described the incident as an attempt to bomb the helicopter belonging to the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF).
“It was an attempt to bomb a helicopter belonging to the Umbutfo Eswatini Defence Force(UEDF)at the Army Airwing in Matsapha.lt is imperative to note that, there’s are no personal helicopters kept there,” said the Army Spokesperson.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political unrest after King Mswati allegedly unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.
An army helicopter was allegedly bombed by Solidarity Forces.
