Influential Mass Democratic Movement leader Velaphi Mamba leaves OSISA.

MBABANE: Velaphi Mamba, an influential leader of the Mass Democratic Movement(MDM) has left the Open Society Initiative for Southern Africa(OSISA) after 12 years of service.

He left an unassailable record in the country, the region, the continent as well as globally in supporting human rights, good governance and democratic practice, social and economic justice, free media, gender justice, climate change initiatives, youth empowerment and development amongst other things.

Recently, Colani Maseko, the President of the Swaziland National Union of Students(SNUS) revealed that soldiers questioned him about Velaphi Mamba while being tortured, Mamba and his family faced threats from Mswati’s regime.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Mamba confirmed his departure from the organisation and assured the country that he left on account of a bigger professional obligation that he could not turn down.

“I have served the struggle since my early student days in high school and university. I fearlessly believe in justice and human rights. Our people must understand that the struggle is a noble cause and they must pursue it until victory is achieved.My time at OSISA was but a small contribution to the cause of the struggle in Swaziland and the continent as well as globally. In my next chapter, I will stay the course and continue to pursue justice for all, for the struggle never sleeps",he said.
