MBABANE: A soldier who was allegedly sidelined for promotions has exposed a R50million looting within the army and further threatened to join the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) as part of his contribution to liberate eSwatini.
Speaking to this Swaziland News this week, the member of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) said he has been frustrated by his superiors and deprived promotions just because he was not a member of the royal family or related to the ruling Dlamini clan.
“I am even thinking of joining the solidarity forces and target the army, police, Correctional Services superiors including Ministers and other high Government officials,” said the aggrieved soldier whose name cannot be revealed for ethical reasons.
In the recorded video interview kept safely by this publication, the aggrieved soldier further exposed how a sum of R50 million was misappropriated within the army, he revealed names of the implicated senior army officials in the Ministry of Defense and Security.
The soldier said he wanted to do some work similar to that of the Solidarity Forces and then skip the country to demonstrate his frustration and the ill-treatment he received at the hands of senior army officials.
The pro-democracy Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) is an underground entity working towards the liberation of Swazis after King Mswati refused to peacefully introduce democracy reforms and subsequently unleashed his security forces on unarmed civilians.
As per the request of the soldier, the video interview that reveals serious allegations of wrong-doing and further confirms killing of civilians by the army would be shared publicly once he feels safe.
A questionnaire was sent to Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, the army Spokesperson,however,she had not responded at the time of of compiling this report.
Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after Mswati unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.
