MATSAPHA: Another police officer has been shot dead by members of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF).

The shooting was confirmed by the SISF Spokesperson on Saturday morning.

“Yes it’s true, members of the Solidarity Forces were on their way to attack a target and they saw a police officer along the way and shot him. We can confirm that the officer died on the spot,” said the Solidarity Forces Spokesperson.

The name of the officer cannot be revealed for now, for ethical reasons.

The shooting happened a few hours after the shooting of soldiers next to Masundvwini Palace on Friday evening.

Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

On another note, the Spokesperson of the Solidarity Forces said the shooting would intensify until the release of incarcerated pro-democracy Members of Parliament(MPs) Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after Mswati unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians.
