MBABANE:Resigned Senior Police Officer Sergeant Cebile ‘Cece’ Shongwe is highly expected to head a Police Union that will, among others, facilitate issues of regime-change in eSwatini.
Speaking to this Swaziland News during an interview on Wednesday, Shongwe confirmed that the preparations for the establishment of the union were at an advanced stage adding that the identity of their members would be protected for now.
She said the Union would among others, facilitate and support regime-change operations and further ensure the welfare of police officers in the coming new democratic Government.
“Issues of regime-change will form part of our objectives because we understand that the police will enjoy a better life under a democratic Government. We will also work with police organizations from other countries to promote the rights of police officers. I am in a better position to ensure the success of this organization because I am not in eSwatini and I will push all operations from this side,” she said.
The resigned senior police officer said members of the law enforcement agency were struggling because they were not unionized.
