REVEALED: Names of Mswati’s soldiers who allegedly killed, robbed dagga farmer Samkeliso MaCross Matsebula.

EMABHUKWINI: Sifiso Dlamini(33) of Lavumisa, Ezindwendweni and Siboniso Masilela(47) of Lomahasha are members of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force (UEDF) who allegedly killed dagga farmer Samkeliso MaCross Matsebula of Emabhukwini under Mangcongco Inkhundla.

This is contained in classified police reports including a Daily Incident Report(DIR)leaked to this investigative journalist by police insiders who expressed serious concerns in the manner in which Matsebula was killed by the members of the army. 

It has been disclosed that the soldiers who went on to grab part of ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) from Matsebula’s lifeless body allegedly lied to the police that gun shots were fired at them while trying to arrest him.

“Sifiso Dlamini (33) of Lavumisa Ezindwendweni based at Mafutseni West Army Base reported that on 16/07/2022 at 2130hrs three gunshots were fired directed to them while trying to arrest one Wandile Mthembu and Samkeliso Matsebula while at Mabhukwini area. Suspect not yet arrested. Siboniso Masilela 47 of Lomahasha based at Mafutseni West Army Base reported that on 16/07/2022 at 2130 hrs three  shots were fired directed to them while trying to arrest one Mthembu Wandile Dlamini and Samkeliso Maysebula while at Mabhukwini. Suspect not yet arrested,” reads part of the police Daily Incident Report(DIR).

Reached for comments, resigned pro-democracy police officer Sergeant Cebile Shongwe said the police and soldiers were trying to manipulate reports to cover-up the brutal killing of Samkeliso Matsebula.

“They are now trying to falsely accuse Samkeliso of committing a robbery, however, residents of the area who witnessed the killing are aware of what happened. Soldiers are not law enforcers, even if they can try to create false stories, it won’t work, the army does not have any legal mandate to act as police officers,” she said.

Make Mhlanga, the mother to Samkeliso Matsebula told this publication that her son was a bread winner who was taking care of her adding that she remained hopeless after his brutal killing.

When reached by this Swaziland News, Derrick Motsa, the Head of Mabhukwini Army Base where Samkeliso was allegedly killed declined to comment.

Police Spokesperson Superintendent Phindile Vilakati avoided questions from from this publication, she said Government advised her not to comment.

“Government has not yet given me a go-ahead to comment on Swaziland News,” said the Police Spokesperson.

On Thursday, a questionnaire was sent to Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, the Army Spokesperson, however, she responded briefly, wishing this journalist a good evening.

Samkeliso MaCross Matsebula, a dagga farmer was brutally killed by Mswati’s soldiers on Saturday, the soldiers  subsequently grabbed part of ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) from his lifeless body. 

Close family members and friends told this publication that Matsebula was allegedly from South Africa to sell his dagga in the black-market.
