MBABANE: Ngomyayona Gamedze, the former Senate Deputy President said Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo thought he was hitting hard on Member of Parliament(MP)Marwick Khumalo yet he was assisting him to fly to the United States of America(USA).
This comes after King Mswati allegedly issued an order last week, blocking the MP from travelling to the US to participate in a dialogue oriented International Visitors Leadership Program(IVLP).
After this publication exposed Mswati, the Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo released a statement saying there was no royal order preventing Khumalo from traveling to the US, instead Khumalo was prevented by his pending court cases.
“In addition, MP Khumalo, in particular might have other stringent restrictions attached to his bail conditions as the Nation will recall that he is still facing a particular matter which the courts of the land are still ceased with,” reads the statement released by the Government Spokesperson.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday evening, Ngomyayona Gamedze, the former Senate Deputy President said the Government Spokesperson was not aware that he was dealing with a politically matured person in MP Marwick Khumalo when he released that statement disputing the royal command.
“After that statement, Marwick Khumalo took a flight straight to the US because there was a written document disputing the royal command. We know that there was a command but Alpheous made things easier by disputing it without understanding that by so doing, he was, on behalf of Government, approving Marwick’s trip to the US.Marwick acted maturely, at first, he decided to cancel the trip because there was a command. After the command was disputed through an official Government statement,he travelled to the US. So the loser here was Mswati who didn’t want Marwick to participate in the program”, said the former Senate Deputy President.
On another note, MP Marwick Khumalo confirmed to this Swaziland News earlier that he decided to fly to the US after reading the Government statement where the royal command was disputed.
The MP is a member of Sive Siyinqaba National Movement, a political organization advocating for democratic reforms, Ngomyayona Gamedze is the Acting Chairman of the organization.
