NATIONAL COMMISSIONER:I will be fired for failing to control Solidarity Forces Commander’s threats.

MBABANE: William Dlamini, the National Commissioner of Police says he might be fired for failing to control the threats issued by the faceless Commander of the pro-democracy Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF).

On Monday morning, the National Commissioner called Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) seeking answers as to why he announced the closure of schools as per an order issued by the SISF Commander.

“We were shocked as the security agency that you can issue an order to teachers not to report for duty because the Commander has spoken, who is the Commander? You can’t confuse the country in this way, baphi bothishela, ngoba abakayi etikolweni ngoba utse wena bangayi ngoba sekukhulume Commander, ngubani lo-Commander?(meaning: Teachers did not report for duty today because you told them not to, as the Commander has spoken, who is the Commander)? It’s serious, we need to talk about this, tsine siyacoshwa emsebentini kutsi live, bantfu bakhuluma kutsandza kwabo, singabakhulumisi,” said the National Commissioner in a recorded conversation with the SNAT President.

A questionnaire was sent to the police boss, however, he had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Reached comments, SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini confirmed receiving a call from the National Commissioner.

“The National Commissioner called me this morning asking why I endorsed the command from Solidarity Forces Commander by urging teachers to stay at home for their safety,” he said.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after King Mswati unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.
