SNAT President Mbongwa Dlamini faces dismissal for endorsing Solidarity Forces order.

Wednesday, 10th August, 2022

MBABANE: Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) is facing a disciplinary action for allegedly endorsing an order issued by the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF).

This comes after the SNAT President urged teachers not to report to work on Monday and Tuesday for their own safety amid State security threats.

“On or about 5th August 2022, you ran an audio video announcement over the SNAT and Swaziland News Platforms on Facebook warning teachers against going to school on the 8th August 2022. You alluded to this in a call with the National Police Commissioner on the 8th August 2022 and also in an interview article by Bongiwe Dlamini of Swaziland News with the Swaziland Solidarity Forces order on the 7th August 2022,” reads a letter addressed to the SNAT President, signed by Lungelo Nhlengetfwa, the Under Secretary in the Ministry of Education.

Efforts to the reach the Under Secretary for further comments, proved unsuccessful at the time of compiling this report.

A high profile source within government told this publication that a decision was taken to fire the SNAT President.

“A decision has been taken to fire him, he cannot just wake-up in the morning and close schools while being paid a salary by the government,” said the insider.

Reached for comments, the SNAT President, a teacher by profession, said he communicated a resolution by the Teachers Union and wondered why he was being ‘charged’ in his personal capacity.

“That was a resolution by SNAT and I communicated it to the members as a President of the organization,” said the SNAT President.
