The SNAT urged teachers not to report to work on Monday and Tuesday last week amid State security threats.
“As PUDEMO we call upon all organizations and patriotic Swazis to accompany SNAT President on Monday as he will be appearing Eshashalazini at the Police Headquarters and TSC respectively. Let’s convene at Mbabane Bus Rank at 10am and march up to eShashalazini,” said the PUDEMO Secretary General.
Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments, Sikelela Dlamini, the SNAT Secretary General confirmed that a decision has been taken to accompany their President.
“We call upon the membership to participate and accompany the SNAT President to Tsintsibala(National Commissioner) and the Ministry of Education where he will be delivering responses to the complaints demanded by the Under Secretary,” said the SNAT Secretary General.
On another note, National Commissioner William Dlamini told the SNAT President that he was facing dismissal from his position for not arresting people who are critical of the regime.
“We were shocked as the security agency that you can issue an order to teachers not to report for duty because the Commander has spoken, who is the Commander? You can’t confuse the country in this way, baphi bothishela, ngoba abakayi etikolweni ngoba utse wena bangayi ngoba sekukhulume Commander, ngubani lo-Commander?(meaning: Teachers did not report for duty today because you told them not to, as the Commander has spoken, who is the Commander)? It’s serious, we need to talk about this, tsine siyacoshwa emsebentini kutsi live, bantfu bakhuluma kutsandza kwabo, singabakhulumisi,” said the National Commissioner in a recorded conversation with the SNAT President.
