MBABANE: A Swazi businessman has donated a cow worth fifteen thousand Rands(R15,000.00) to be slaughtered during the looming final nation-wide protests to oust King Mswati.

Speaking to this Swaziland News on Sunday, the businessman’s representative said he would be the one faciliting the donation due to the donor’s status in society. He then shared contact details of the donor for verification and or confirmation.

“He listened to an audio where the editor was analysing the political situation in the country saying a big day is coming where Swazis will protest in all four(4)regions and march to the Palace to oust the King. Unikela ngenkhabi(cow) letohlatjwa idliwe ngulamaSwati latobe enta lomsebenti. Kodvwa utsite ngikunike his details uto-verifya kutsi vele nguye(meaning: He said the cow would be slaughtered for the Swazis who will be protesting so that they can have food. He asked me to inform you that as businessmen, they desperately want the freedom but for now, due to his status in society and the fact that he runs a business, he asked to remain anonymous. However, he said I should share with you his contact details so you can call him and verify that indeed, it’s him,”said the businessman’s representative.

The donation from the businessman comes after another Swazi businessman pledged and subsequently paid one hundred thousand Rands(R100,000.00) to the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF), an underground unit of the pro-democracy movement that protects civilians from Mswati’s forces.

The Executive Command of the Solidarity Forces told this publication that the R100,000.00 will purchase weapons to be used against security officers who kill civilians.

Government Spokesperson Alpheous Nxumalo had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Reached for comments, highly regarded unionist Mbongwa Dlamini, the President of the Swaziland National Association of Teachers(SNAT) said the growing support for democratic change demonstrated by the business community was a clear indication that people wanted change.

“It’s no longer about few political parties pushing for change but Swazis are now demonstrating a desire for change,” said the SNAT President.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after King Mswati unleashed his soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.
