MPAKA: A battalion of police officers was deployed at Mpaka to stop residents from praying within the premises where Thandekile Kunene and Dumsani Mgwazo Tsabedze were shot dead.
Tsabedze, a member of Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF) was gunned down together with Thandekile Kunene and others after they picked a safe on the yard following a break-in at Mpaka Shopping Complex.
Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.
Reached for comments, Siboniso Mkhabela, the influential member of the People’s United Democratic Movement(PUDEMO) who was mandated by the family and residents to organise a prayer service confirmed that the police tried to disperse them.
“We had a successful prayer service at the site of murder. Both the Kunene and Tsabedze families attended this sombre event. We were very disappointed with the police who came fully armed to disperse us. We refused to disperse and managed to finish the prayer service without any violence,” said the influential member of PUDEMO when speaking to this Swaziland News on Monday.
Mswati’s police opened fire and killed two residents of Mpaka including a member of the Umbutfo Eswatini Defense Force(UEDF), the two were killed merely for picking a safe within the Mpaka Shopping Complex premises.
