NKWENE: Nkwene Member of Parliament (MP) Vulimpompi Nhleko allegedly donated ten Rands(R10.00) to a disabled family, living inside a tent within his community, this amount can only buy half a loaf of bread in eSwatini.

When this publication reached the MP for a comment, he declined to comment saying he was in a meeting.

"I'm in a meeting ,bye", he said.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, Bongani Makama, the President of the Federation of Organisations of the Disabled in Swaziland (FODSWA) said the country ratified the United Nations Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD) which called for the  State to ensure the safety of all disabled persons especially young children.

“It wrong for the MP not to seek assistance for the family. The family has been exposed to harsh weather conditions all these years and the disabled girl child is vulnerable to Gender Based Violence since their tent is not locked.Government must intervene in this matter",he said.

Eswatini, a tiny Kingdom situated in Southern Africa has about 70% of the population living below the poverty line.A majority of the population earns a living through menial jobs and handcraft.

The tent was donated by our MP about three years ago, he promised to come back and build a house for us but he never came back. Just recently we met him on our way to register a birth certificate in town, he only gave us R 10.00,”she said
