ESWATINI UNREST: Mswati’s soldiers fire shots as Sidzidzi seMhlanga kaBhamsakhe burns.

LUYENGO: Sidzidzi SeMhlanga at Luyengo(kaBhamsakhe) was burnt by pro-democracy activists in the early hours on Tuesday.

Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

It has been disclosed that the burning of the uMhlanga forms part of the ongoing operations by political activists after Mswati refused to participate in a political dialogue.

Speaking to this Swaziland News, the political activist who is a member of one of the political organizations confirmed the burning of the uMhlanga.

“We went there to burn uMhlanga, it was finished, they will go to Empisi Farm. When we started burning uMhlanga, soldiers fired two shots but it was too late. We want democracy,” said the political activist.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis, King Mswati allegedly claimed the political environment was not conducive for a political dialogue, however, his ritual events continued despite the ongoing calls for democratic reforms.
