MBABANE: Wandile Dludlu, the Secretary General of the People’s United Democratic Movement (PUDEMO) says King Mswati’s Government is using the law to please the oppressor.
This comes after Princess Lindiwe Dlamini, the Minister of Home Affairs issued a gazette on Thursday banning Sicelo Mngomezulu, the lawyer for the incarcerated pro-democracy MPs Bacede Mabuza and Mthandeni Dube from entering the country.
In public statement sent to this Swaziland News, the PUDEMO Secretary General said the banning of the lawyer was an attack to all those who stood against the oppression of Swazis and the Members of Parliament in particular.
“It is common knowledge that the State has absolutely no evidence linking the MPs Cde Mthandeni Dube and Bacede Mabuza for which Mngomezulu has been defending very well since last year. This dirty tactic of abusing State agencies for political expediency is well recorded and highlighted. We commit to fight this absurd procedural anomaly of banning Cde Mngomezulu without due process nor following basic tenets of constitutionalism expected from anyone who intends to encroach in the rights of another in this manner,” reads the statement in part.
