JUNIOR POLICE OFFICERS MASS MEETING: We will stop going to work if Government insists on 3% increment.

Saturday, 3rd September, 2022

MANZINI: Police officers resolved to stop going to work if Government insists on awarding them the 3% salary increment.

This was resolved during their mass meeting held at the Catheral in Manzini on Saturday.

“I am suggesting that if we write a letter of appeal to the Police Minister, there must be an element of threat that we will down tools,”said one police officer and there was a round of applause as he made the suggestion.

Junior police officers met on Saturday to discuss a way forward after Government decided to award them only a 3% salary increment despite the ever escalating cost of living.

The 3% increment suggests that officers who earned around ten thousand Rands(R10,000.00) would receive only three hundred Rands(R300).

On the other hand, senior police officers would receive 22% and those who earned around fifty thousand Rands(R50,000.00) would receive eleven thousand(R11,000.00) as salary increment.
