TENSION WITHIN SECURITY FORCES: Junior police officers want 3% salary increment stopped pending meeting with King Mswati.

MANZINI: Junior police officers resolved to seek an audience with King Mswati over the now controversial 3% salary increment before downing tools.

Tension escalated within the security forces after Government resolved to award police officers and warders a 3% salary increment, their superiors will receive 22%.

The decision to meet the King came after one police officer suggested that they must consider meeting the King(kwembula ingubo) before taking other decisions.

“I am suggesting that we must also consider seeking an audience with the King over this matter,” said the police officer who was part of the meeting at the Cathedral  in Manzini, his name cannot be revealed for ethical reasons.

Police Spokesperson Phindile Vilakati had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

A summary of discussions and resolutions shared by police officers to this Swaziland News suggests that the officers resolved to, among others take National Commissioner William Dlamini to court.

“Engaging the Court ordering NatCom to involve all parties involved in this matter,  before going further, rather than dictating for them. An interim order stopping the Public Service from considering the document handed over by the NatCom, as the Task team is unknown. Returning  to HMK(kuyombula ingubo) as this implementation is considered to be as per the King\'s order after the Staff Association from both institutions had met with the king.

The first resolution required the involvement of learned friends, so the house suggested to contribute as this has become an urgent matter,members of the house resolved that a member should contribute E100, lebebasendlini bentile, but some promised, the deadline has been placed to Tuesday 6 September 2022,”read the resolutions in part.
