MBULUZI: Lieutenant Tengetile Khumalo, the Army Spokesperson failed to respond to our questions when asked to clarify the arrival of army recruits at Mbuluzi Barracks on Friday.
This Swaziland News was taken on a tour of the Barracks via a video call by senior Army officials on Thursday, tents were already planted in preparation for the arrival of the recruits.
Pictures in our possession suggest that ‘military beds’ were installed inside the tents.
But very few Swazis were recruited despite a vigorous recruitment exercise whose intention was to diffuse and keep the youth busy ahead of the June 29, political unrest commemoration.
Sakhile ‘Awviva’ Nxumalo, the President of the Swaziland Youth Congress(SWAYOCO) previously warned the youth against participating in the army recruitment exercise, Nxumalo described it as a political strategy to silence the youth.
“We must do everything in our power to stop the recruitment, in Mayiwane we disrupted it strategically,” said the SWAYOCO President.
