Sunday, 11th September, 2022

MANZINI: Busie Mayisela, the National Chairperson of the Swaziland Liberation Movement (SWALIMO) has come-out to clarify allegations suggesting that she has been suspended from the organisation together with Secretary General Dr Siphetfo Dlamini.

This comes after Mzwandile Dlamini, the National Coordination Office Chairperson claimed that the two influential SWALIMO National Executive Members (NEC) were suspended after a leaked audio where they accused President Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane of lacking leadership skills.

In an internal memo seen by this Swaziland News on Sunday, the SWALIMO National Chairperson warned all their members to utilise internal structures and desist from discussing issues of the organisation in the public space.

Reached for comment by this publication, the SWALIMO Chairperson confirmed the internal memo.

"It is imperative to dispel the notion that I as the National Chairperson and Secretary General have been suspended by the President Hon.Gaw'zela.The SG and I disassociate ourselves from these comments and state clearly that from time to time we recuse ourselves where we see potential conflict of interest", reads the SWALIMO internal memo in part.

Addressing the Nation on a live video shared by this publication on Saturday evening, Mzwandile Dlamini, the SWALIMO National Coordination Office Chairperson revealed that the NEC had resolved in meeting not to suspend the two senior members but President Magawugawu later ordered them to step aside.

“We resolved that the matter would be deliberated upon by an independent Task Team that would look at the nature and contents of the audio and then make recommendations. We had also resolved that these two implicated officers would not be suspended but soon after that meeting, the President ordered them to step aside", he said.
