Traffic police officer Bongani Dlamini shot by Solidarity Forces at New Village.

NEW VILLAGE: Bongani Dlamini, a police officer based in Matsapha was on Tuesday evening shot by members of the Swaziland International Solidarity Forces(SISF) while attending to an accident at New Village, Dlamini was rushed to hospital.

Reached for comments, the female Commander of the Solidarity Forces confirmed the shooting.

“Yes it’s true, actually we shot at two officers at New Village and the other one was missed,” she said.

Superintendent Phindile Vilakati, the Police Spokesperson had not responded at the time of compiling this report.

Police insiders confirmed the shooting but  clarified that the officer was only shot in the foot.

”It was minor in the foot, the officer is recovering in hospital,” said the insider.

Eswatini is in the midst of a political crisis after the King unleashed soldiers and the police to shoot and kill dozens of civilians merely for demanding democratic reforms.
