MBABANE: Colani Hlatshwako, the Coordinator of the One Billion Rising Campaign Africa has described the sentiments uttered by fired SWALIMO Lubombo District Chairperson Mzwakhe Myeni against Siphofaneni Member of Parliament(MP) Nomalungelo LaZwide Simelane as the highest degree of sexual harassment.
Speaking to this Swaziland News on Wednesday, the Coordinator said threatening to have sex with a person remained a gross violation of the Sexual Offenses and Domestic Violence(SODV) Act.
As a result, the Coordinator said the MP was sexually abused by Myeni and this might result to emotional abuse.
“We need to understand that such sentiments do not only amount to sexual abuse but even also affect the victim emotionally. The MP can open a sexual harassment case against Myeni,” she said.
This publication reported earlier on Wednesday that Mzwakhe Myeni, the fired Lubombo District Chairperson of the Swaziland Liberation Movement(SWALIMO) allegedly sent an audio to the President of the organization Mduduzi Magawugawu Simelane and threatened to have sex with his wife if he continued to hide in other countries.
This comes after a dramatic fallout between Simelane and Myeni that saw the latter expelled from the organization.
SWALIMO President Magawugawu Simelane confirmed being in possession of the audio while Myeni avoided questions from this publication after being asked to clarify why he sexually harassed the MP.
